According to the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan and Afghanistan, it has published a notice of citizen protection on the embassy’s official website and contacted several relevant agencies in Afghanistan to get information about the situation of Vietnamese citizens in this country.

The Embassy reported at present there are no Vietnamese citizens in Afghanistan. On August 3, the Embassy coordinated with relevant agencies to bring home a Vietnamese citizen working for the United Nations agency in Afghanistan.

Vietnamese citizens are encouraged to dial the hotline of the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan + 92 0336 3336868 (Whatsapp) or + 84 936 061996 (Zalo, Viber), or landline phone number +92 51 2655785/87 for assistance. They can also directly phone the Citizen Protection services of the Consular Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs via +84 981 848484.

Taliban militants entered Kabul (Afghanistan) and took control of the presidential palace on August 15. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani was said to flee the country for neighbouring Tajikistan.
