With the latest discovery, the nation has so far confirmed 114,915 local infections, and 2,206 imported ones.

Notably, a total of 113,345 locally-transmitted cases were found in the latest coronavirus wave that hit the nation in late April.

One day earlier, Vietnam registered 7,913 active coronavirus cases, including 7,911 local transmissions, with the majority recorded in Ho Chi Minh City, the nation’s current biggest hotspot at 6,318.

6 out of 62 provinces and cities have now gone 14 days without any new cases of local transmission being detected, while 11 other provinces have recorded no secondary infections.

More than 5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered nationwide, with more than 450,000 people having receiving full two jabs.

Since the start of the fourth wave of COVID-19 outbreaks three months ago, HCM City still leads the way in terms of community infections, with more than 74,000 cases being recorded, trailed by Binh Duong province with 8,909.

Hanoi has so far logged more than 1,000 positive domestic cases of COVID-19 during the ongoing coronavirus wave.
