Vietnam, China to expand local-level cooperation

Vietnamese Party chief on January 14 evening received Xia Baolong, member of the Chinese Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang People’s Congress, at the West Lake Guest House in Hangzhou city, Zhejiang province, China.

The Vietnamese Party chief expressed his pleasure over visiting the province, the locality with various renowned landmarks and rich cultural traditions, which President Ho Chi Minh used to visit many times. The Vietnamese Party leader congratulated the local leadership and people on their great achievements in implementing the economic reform and open-door policy, featuring the province’s harmonious socio-economic development, growth of private-owned enterprises, environmental protection, preservation and promotion of traditional culture, improved living standards of people, and international integration.

Provincial Party Secretary Xia Baolong expressed his delight and honor to receive the visiting Vietnamese Party chief and the high-ranking Vietnamese Party delegation, saying that the official visit to China of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to had marked an important milestone and further promoted the Vietnam-China relationship, bilateral cooperation between the two countries as well as between localities of the two countries.

The host reported the Vietnamese Party leader and the visiting delegation on the local development situation over the past years and plans for the time to come, and affirmed that the local leadership is always willing to create favorable conditions to boost relations between the province with Vietnamese localities, contributing to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

The Vietnamese Party leader also expressed his delight at continuous positive developments in economic, trade, tourism and education cooperation between the Chinese province and Vietnamese localities. 

Official reports have said that two-way trade between Zhejiang and Vietnam reached US$ 5 billion in the first 9 months of 2016, and as many as 179 Zhejiang-based enterprises are doing business in Vietnam.

The Vietnamese Party leader asked Zhejiang province’s leaders to continue promoting exchange and cooperation with Vietnamese localities by sharing its experience in economic management and development policy and encouraging local businesses, especially big and prestigious ones, to invest in such Vietnamese sectors as high technology, support industry and clean energy, which are the province’s strengths.

The Vietnamese Party chief also suggested that the two sides soon open Vietnam’s trade rep-office in Zhejiang, join hands in cultural events of the two countries, enhance tourist activities, and increase direct flights between the Chinese province and Vietnamese cities and provinces.

On the evening, Vietnamese Party General Secretary and the visiting Vietnamese Party delegation were invited to a banquet hosted by leaders of the Chinese province of Zhejiang in Hangzhou city.
