Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange 2017 to open on June 20

PSNews- A news briefing on the 4th Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange 2017 was held by the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, under the Ministry of Defense on June 13.

According to the briefing, the annual exchange is aimed to strengthen mutual political trust, promote stable and sustainable development in the bilateral relations between the two Armies and nations, contributing to building and strengthening the confidence of people of the two countries in a shared borderline of peace and friendship, stable and long-term development. 

Through the exchanges, both sides hope to make contribution to the fight against allegations distorting Vietnam-China relations.

Addressing the briefing, Maj. Gen. Nguyen Dai Hoi, Deputy Director of the Foreign Relations Department under the Ministry of Defense, introduced the agenda for the 4th Vietnam-China Border Defense Exchange.

Maj. Gen. Hoi also announced that at the invitation of General Ngo Xuan Lich, Member of Politburo, Deputy Chairman of the Central Military Commission and Minister of Defense of Vietnam, Senior Leutenant General Fan Zhanglong, Politburo Member, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China will pay an official visit to Vietnam and co-host the 4th Vietnam-China Friendship Defense Exchange, held in Lai Chau province (Vietnam) and Yunnan province (China).

On the schedule, General Fan Zhanglong’s Vietnam visit will take place from June 18 and 19 while the Vietnam-China Friendship Defense Exchange will run from June 20 to 22.

Thanks to the activities during the annual exchange, the border guard forces of the two countries have opportunities to promote their close-knit ties, enhance coordination in dealing with law violations in the border areas. 

The people of the two countries along the shared border also have the opportunity to meet, cooperate and exchange experiences in terms of doing business and building a better life.
