As part of his address at the event, Prof. Dr. Thang emphasized that the establishment of VAC aims to carry out the Joint Statement of the Prime Ministers of the two countries which was made in September, 2019. In addition, it represents an important highlight in the strategic partnership between both sides moving forward, as well as contributing to the practical activity towards the 50th founding anniversary of the diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The opening of this portal can therefore be viewed as a necessary initial step for the development of the centre, with high hopes that it will contribute to improving the capacity of Vietnamese officials and managers and meeting the requirements of integration and development whilst boosting sustainable joint co-operation.

Australian Minister Wong, who is on an official visit to the country from June 26 to June 28, said the VAC will play an important role in enriching the knowledge of future Vietnamese officials trained at the academy, as well as promoting ties and strengthening links between the people of both sides.

She used the platform to voice her hope that through the centre, the nation can have more women in leadership positions.

As part of the occasion, Prof. Dr. Thang held a working session with the Australian Foreign Minister, during which the two sides discussed co-operation between HCMA and Australian partners moving forward.

They agreed that key contents of the bilateral strategic partnership have been implemented in an effective manner despite the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prof. Dr. Thang highlighted the significance of co-operation schemes and projects between the two nations for the Vietnamese side, particularly the project which seeks to incorporate human rights into the curriculum of the national education system. He also suggested expanding co-operation in a number of potential areas, including innovation, green energy, digital transformation, and climate change response.
