Head of the Vietnamese delegation Ambassador Nguyen Nguyet Nga said the theme of the event, Harnessing Frontier Technologies: Redesigning National, Regional and Global Architecture, is very relevant in the context of the booming Fourth Industrial Revolution and digital technology in the region and the world.

Nga, who is Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (VNCPEC), said the Vietnamese delegation is attending the event to express the country's interest in optimizing advanced technologies for national development.

Vietnamese delegates will also take the occasion to discuss with the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) and its members issues of common concern in preparation for Vietnam’s chair of the ASEAN in 2020 and non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenure, Nga said.

She added that the delegation is scheduled to hold sidelines meetings on specific issues with politicians, research centers and agencies of the host country to strengthen the Vietnam-Indonesia friendship, particularly when the two countries are organizing many activities to mark the 60th anniversary of the visits of President Ho Chi Minh and President Sukarno in 2019, and the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship in 2020.

The Global Dialogue CSIS 2019 is being held by the Washington based Center for Strategic and International Studies and the PECC.
