Receiving outgoing Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantin Vnukov in Hanoi on Dec. 3, Trong spoke highly of the Russian diplomat’s contributions to the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership over the years.

Political ties between Vietnam and Russia have enjoyed a high level of trust over the years while delegation exchanges have been maintained in all channels, contributing to deepening the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, said the party leader.

He welcomed the positive development of the two countries’ economic cooperation, noting that partnership in the fields of defence, security, military engineering, energy, and oil and gas serves as a key pillar of bilateral ties.

Both Vietnam and Russia should proactively implement mutually beneficial agreements reached by their high-ranking officials, helping to maintain peace, stability and development in the region and the rest of the world, stressed Trong.

The top Vietnamese leader conveyed his best regards to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the ruling United Russia party Dmitry Medvedev.

For his part, ambassador Vnukov thanked the Vietnamese government, ministries and localities for supporting him during his working term in Vietnam and vowed to boost bilateral relations in his new position.
