Vietnam and Russia Customs promote ties

The bilateral talks aimed at strengthening the effective and substantive implementation of commitments to promote trade cooperation and trade facilitation under the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement, and review and evaluate results of the bilateral cooperation between the two customs sectors.

Leaders of the two customs agencies highlighted the important role of the customs forces in fulfilling the agreement on trade facilitation commitments and agreed to further strengthen the customs authorities' responsibilities.

The two sides agreed to accelerate connection of their information technology systems, set up a secured data transmission channel as a basic foundation for bilateral exchange of customs information.

The Federal Customs Service of Russia also agreed to support Vietnam’s Customs in training its personnel.

After the talks, the heads of the two customs agencies signed a MoU and a Joint Cooperation Plan to counter customs violations in the period of 2019-2023.
