Vietnam and Cuba tighten traditional friendship

The event was attended by Ms. Truong Thi Mai, Member of Politburo, Head of Mass Mobilisation Commission, President of VCFA.

Chairman of the Cuban National Assembly Juan Esteban Lazo Hermandez attended the meeting.

Addressing the event, Ms. Truong Thi Mai recalled the famous saying by Cuban leader Fidel Castro: “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed her blood”. 

Mr. Lazo Hernandez expressed deep gratitude to the Party, State and the people of Vietnam for the kind support and assistance to Cuba in the struggle for national liberation in the past as well as in the current national construction and defense.

He also affirmed that under the leadership of the Cuban Party, National Leader Fidel and President Raul, the whole Cuban people are determined to protect the achievements of the revolution and socialism.

The Cuban Chairman of National Assembly expressed his belief that the visit would further promote the relationship between the two countries, the two parliaments and the two peoples.

Ms. Truong Thi Mai thanked Chairman Juan Esteban Lazo Hernandez for his fine remarks and warm sentiments for the Vietnamese people in general and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association in particular.

Ms. Mai emphasized that the VCDA will always do its utmost to further promote solidarity and friendship with the Cuban people, stand side by side with them in protecting the achievements of their revolution, successfully realizing the policy on an updated socialist socio-economic model and strongly support the international solidarity movement, asking the US Congress to soon end the irrational sanction against Cuba, and requesting the US authorities to unconditionally return the US force-occupied Guantanamo area.
