Consolidated pre-tax profit during the period reached VND2.6 trillion (US$116 million), the company said in its latest press release.

During the reviewed period, the company operated over 106,000 domestic and international flights, surging 10.5% year-on-year. It carried 14.9 million passengers, up 16.4% year-on-year, with domestic transport increasing by 23%.

The firm also achieved freight output of 193,000 tonnes, up 21%.

From January to September, the company put into operation four Airbus A350s and eight Boeing 787s. It has also received four-star certification from Skytrax and has successfully been implementing restructuring and equitisation efforts.

"These positive results can be attributed to Vietnam Airlines' efforts in making groundbreaking developments and in seizing every opportunity to improve its business efficiency," the firm said.

In the latter months, the airline will mobilise resources to ensure the absolute safety and security of its operation, especially to provide better service during the peak period at the year end.

Closer collaboration will be fostered with its strategic partner ANA and other members in the SkyTeam Alliance to introduce to the market attractive products and services of 4-5 star quality, meeting the increasing demand of the passengers, it said.
