Viet Duc Hospital in collaboration with the Orthopaedic Association of Southeast Asia and the Vietnam Orthopaedic Association held a scientific conference on orthopaedics on October 7, in Hanoi.

Delivering the opening speech, Professor Tran Binh Giang, Director of Viet Duc Hospital, Chair of the conference underscored that the meeting was an opportunity for surgeons and nurses in the orthopaedic field to share experience with each other with the aim of improving the quality of treatment, survival rate of patients, especially restricting traumatic sequelae.

Surgical robots have been deployed in the world. In the field of spine trauma, robots are used in less invasive surgeries, bringing outstanding results. Vietnam’s orthopaedics has made a great leap in emergency and treatment for accidents and injuries.

According to Professor Giang, Viet Duc Hospital is the first hospital in Southeast Asia and the second one in Asia that has conducted this type of surgery. After five years, over 1,000 patients have successfully been operated on.

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Viet Tien said that the theme "Minimally Invasive Techniques in Orthopedic Trauma" was an interesting topic. He hoped that Vietnamese and international scientists will together exchange new knowledge, promoting developments in orthopaedic treatment.
