The Vietnam Children Sponsor Fund in collaboration with Bao Viet life insurance held the programme “Education Welfare – Bicycle to School” on June 30, at the Labor Cultural House in Hung Yen.

At the ceremony, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh presented 100 bicycles, school bags and 100 scholarships to studious students.

The charitable activities in Hung Yen were part of the continuing journey " Education Welfare - Bicycle to School 2017" launched by the Vietnam Children Sponsor Fund and Bao Viet life insurance across the country.

The programme " Education Welfare - Bicycle to School 2017" aims to present 1,700 bicycles and 1,700 school bags at a total cost of VND 3.6 billion to needy students.

The programme has been implemented since 2004 with the aim of encouraging and supporting needy children in the country

So far, Vietnam Children Sponsor Fund and Bao Viet life insurance have offered more than 10,000 scholarships and 12,000 gifts worth VND 10 billion to needy children in the 63 provinces and cities of Vietnam.

As reported, more than 200,000 children drop out of school every year in Vietnam, mainly due to financial difficulties and hard geographical conditions.
