UNGA president hails Vietnam’s contributions to int’l community

Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations, paid a courtesy visit to Abdulla Shahid, incumbent President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on March 3.

President Shahid highly appreciated Vietnam’s responsible and active role at the United Nations, especially during its tenure as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2020-2021 term.

He shared the UNGA’s priorities in the coming time, including some high-level debates on tourism promotion and environmental protection, as well as consultation sessions on the ‘Our Common Agenda’ report, and expected to receive Vietnam’s support for those events.

For his part, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that Vietnam is a reliable and responsible partner of the United Nations, making a practical contribution to major activities of the UN. He expressed his willingness to cooperate with the United Nations in realizing the priority areas of the General Assembly president.

The Ambassador thanked the President for supporting Vietnam during its UNSC membership for 2020-2021 as well as activities at the 76th General Assembly.

He wished that the United Nations would continue to support Vietnam in national construction and development and in realizing common goals of the international community.
