Vietnam looks forward to working closely with fellow ASEAN members to raise the bloc's voice and contribution to international human rights efforts.

Vietnam consistently upholds the UN Charter and international law, advocating for a balanced approach to human rights issues through dialogue, cooperation, and mutual respect. The country firmly opposes the politicization of human rights and interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states.

In October 2025, at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters, the UN General Assembly continued to place its trust in Vietnam, electing the country to the UN Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term with 180 votes—the highest among the Asia-Pacific group.

PSNews - A photo exhibition themed “Vietnam – Identity, Humanity and Integration” was launched on June 30 in Geneva, Switzerland, by the Permanent Office of the Vietnamese Government's Steering Committee for Human Rights and the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN).

Vietnam, on behalf of the Core Group which also includes Bangladesh and the Philippines, will table the 2024 Resolution on Climate Change and Human Rights with the theme of ensuring human rights in the energy transition process at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)’s 56th session that opened in Geneva on June 18.

The nation’s policy of protecting human rights will serve to consider people as both the goal and the driving force behind further national development, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang.

Vietnam has taken specific actions to fulfill her commitments to promoting and protecting human rights at national, regional and international levels as a responsible member of the international community. 

After more than 30 years of renewal, Vietnam has made various efforts and gained achievements acknowledged by the international community in protecting and promoting human rights, heard a symposium held in Hoa Binh province on December 6 to mark 70th World Human Rights Day (December 10).

Vietnam pursues a consistent policy of respecting and ensuring full human rights in conformity with international standards and attaches importance to cooperation and dialogue on human rights.
