Tra Vinh province: Over 800 kids receive free cardiovascular examination

The Tra Vinh Obstetrics and Paediatrics Hospital, health experts of the charity program “Heart for kids” from Bach Mai Hospital and Hanoi Medical University Hospital have recently provided free cardiovascular examinations for over 800 kids in Tra Vinh province.

The examinations uncovered nearly 40 cases of congenital heart diseases and four patients are expected to undergo urgent operations. 

Apart from providing essential information on how to have a healthy heart, the charity program “Heart for kids” also presented over 800 gifts to kids. Located on the Mekong River Delta, 34% of the population of Tra Vinh province are ethnic minority groups, of which 33% are Khmer.

Meanwhile, its healthcare system faces a lot of difficulty. Ms Le Thanh Tien, Vice Head of the Tra Vinh Obstetrics and Paediatrics Hospital, expressed her great thankfulness to the program, and hoping to see more support from people with kind hearts nationwide to help each needy kid in Tra Vinh province enjoy a better and healthier life.

The charity program “Heart for kids” is co-organized by the Vietnam Military-run Telecommunications group Viettel and the Vietnam Television (VTV) in 2008. So far, it has provided support for over 3,000 children with congenital heart diseases to undergo urgent operations. 

It is part of series activities to welcome the 8th anniversary of the charity program “Heart for kids”. A ceremony is scheduled to be broadcast live at 20h10 on October 8th on VTV1 channel.
