Top Vietnamese legislator wishes for stronger parliamentary ties with Laos

NA Charwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan highlighted the Vietnam visit this time by the Lao NA delegation as well as the official visit by General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos  Bounnhang Vorachith and his wife and high-ranking delegation have deepened the friendship, special solidarity, pure and close-knit relations between of the Parties, States and people of Vietnam and Laos.

Over the recent past, both sides have well maintained annual exchange mechanisms of NA delegation and agencies, and timely exchange of information, and strengthened mutual trust to build a close relationship between NA leaders and deputies. During the high-level visits, the two countries jointly organized a host of seminars with very practical and useful contents demonstrating the higher cooperation efficiency between the two legislative bodies.

The Lao NA Vice Chairman used the occasion to convey the best regards from Lao National Assembly Chairwoman Pany Yathotou to her Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Regarding the outcomes of his earlier talks with NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, Sengnouane Xayalat said that the two sides informed each other about the socio economic development situation in their respective nation and major activities of the two NAs. They hold a detailed discussion on issues relating to the supervision over the implementation of the Government-level agreement on the settlement of free and unmarried migrants in the Vietnam-Laos border areas.

He expressed his sincere thanks to the National Assembly of Vietnam for its great support and close cooperation with its Lao counterpart and hailed the two countries' effective parliamentary cooperation through sharing experience and information and providing training courses to upgrade skills of deputies of the NA and People's Council of Laos.

The Vietnamese NA leader suggested the two sides should bolster cooperation and share experience between the two NA law-making bodies especially in building the legal systems, noting that both nations  need to strictly supervise the implementation of signed agreements between the two governments in order to facilitate legal policies and contribute to promoting Vietnam- Laos ties in a pragmatic and effective manner in the time to come.

In reply, the Lao NA Vice President thanked the Party, State and National Assembly of Vietnam for helping the Lao National Assembly to build the new NA House, which he believes, will be an invaluable heritage to educate the younger generations about the Vietnam-Laos special friendship.

He asked NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to continue paying attention to and expedite the implementation of the Laos NA House building project on schedule, fulfilling the goals set by the two sides.
