Ten outstanding youths of 2018 honoured

The Outstanding Vietnamese Young Faces Award, an annual national event to honour young people at home and abroad who have excelled in various disciplines, announced its 10 winners of 2018 at a ceremony in Hanoi on March 19 evening.

This year, a total of 139 youths, including 38 young women and nine individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds, were nominated. Of them, the 10 most outstanding were:

1. H’hen Nie – culture-arts category; 

2 3. Nguyen Duc Thanh and Vong Binh Long – scientific research and innovation category;

4. Nguyen Phuong Thao – academic learning category;

5. Van Dinh Hong Vu – business-startup category;

6. Tran Van Thuyet – labour and production category;

7. Nguyen Quang Hai – sports and physical training category;

8. Nguyen Van Thuan – defence category;

9. Le Trong Hieu – security and order category;

10. Le Dinh Hieu – social activities category.

Also at the ceremony, 10 other youths were given the Potential Award across the seven categories of culture-arts, academic learning, business-startup, labour and production, sports and physical training, defence and security and order.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh expressed his delight at the youths’ success.

They are representatives of different ethnic minorities, religious groups and overseas Vietnamese communities, he noted, adding that many of them have been a great source of inspiration.

On March 20, the 20 laureates are scheduled to visit the northern province of Phu Tho and have an exchange with local youths.

The Vietnam Outstanding Young Faces Award is a highly esteemed event from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Central Committee, aiming to honour outstanding youths under 35 across the nation.
