Putting high expectations on this new and exciting comeback, Olivier Ochanine, Music Director, SSO conductor, affirmed that Sun Symphony Orchestra would bring a new 2.0 version with breakthrough steps after the successes of version 1 was well-recognized by the public.
The French conductor revealed that to prepare for this comeback, apart from making a schedule, planning and cherishing adventurous ideas, SSO is currently focusing on and spending a lot of time recruiting outstanding musicians to gradually expand the orchestra to a full-size orchestra.
“This will be great for many reasons, but mostly because this allows our musicians to perform with less physical strain, and it also enables us both to perform a wider array of music as well as lets the orchestra develop much better, instead of relying on so many different guest musicians to join the orchestra on each concert. The orchestra will have the chance to really grow and strengthen this time”, said Ochanine.
In addition to the former elite members of the orchestra who are eager to comeback, Sun Symphony Orchestra will organize an international-scale musician recruitment session to supplement talented artists from Viet Nam.
The SSO concerts will be reopened to classical and chamber music lovers from September 2022.
The fact that the orchestra can perform for audiences is good news for SSO and audiences who are very excited to return to the solemn auditoriums and immerse themselves in world classics.
From the perspective of SSO artists, this comeback is considered a “rebirth.”
Olivier said: “I think everyone can agree that the pandemic has also taught us all to appreciate things more, and for musicians also, this rebirth gives us a renewed energy, I think, as it has been such a long time of building up excitement and longing for the return to the stage and to our audiences.”
The audiences miss the melodies of Fryderyk Chopin, Tchaikovsky and others.
Symphony artists have strong feelings when they replay, immerse in sounds, and hear the full, encouraging applause.
Ochanine said: “You can imagine how disheartening it was for musicians to wait such a long time before being able to return to doing what they love doing – performing beautiful music for our public. . . I don’t have the words to properly convey how happy I am about the news of our relaunch.”
Established in 2017, under the leadership of the world-famous French conductor - Olivier Ochanine and the support of Sun Group, Sun Symphony Orchestra - SSO has made a good impression on music lovers as an international-class symphony orchestra and a focal point of excellent classical music in the country and throughout the world.
Since launching, SSO concerts have been performed with tickets sold in Hanoi and gained enthusiastic support and welcome from the Hanoi audience.
SSO’s 2019 - 2020 performance season made a great impression and spread the love of classical music to the audience through many large-scale concerts with many world-famous guests such as Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Sumi Jo and Benjamin Grosvenor.
While bringing music closer to Vietnamese audiences and affirming its position as an international orchestra collaboration with big names of the world classical music, the SSO dedicates itself to nurturing young talents of Vietnamese academic music via the Educational Collaborative Concert Project between SSO and the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
