State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc (R) receives outgoing RoK Ambassador Park Noh-wan in Hanoi on October 3.

Phuc congratulated Park on his successful term in Vietnam, noting the ambassador has made a practical contribution to promoting cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The RoK is currently a leading partner of Vietnam, with its investment capital reaching nearly US$80 billion, ranking first among foreign investors in the country, said the president, adding bilateral trade turnover last year hit US$78 billion and the figure is expected to increase considerably this year.

Cooperation in the field of labour has also yielded positive results, with approximately 48,000 Vietnamese citizens currently working in the RoK.

Phuc thanked the Government and people of the RoK for providing Vietnam with medical equipment and 1.4 million doses of vaccines during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As Vietnam and the Rok are celebrating 30 years of bilateral diplomacy in 2022, the President suggested that the two sides promote reciprocal visits, as well as trade - investment cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.

He took the occasion to announce that the Vietnamese State will honour the RoK diplomat with the Vietnam Friendship Order in recognition of his contributions to bilateral relations.

For his part, Park thanked the State for the honour, and said there are many Korean investors who want to learn about investment opportunities in Vietnam. The diplomat wished that Vietnam would support the RoK in hosting the 2023 Asian Cup finals.

The RoK ambassador expressed his elation at the growing relationship between Vietnam and the Rok, and affirmed that he would in any future position support stronger relations between the two countries.
