President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on January 22 welcomes Dr. Philipp Rosler, Vietnam’s first Honorary Consul to Switzerland.

Rosler is former Vice Chancellor of the former Merkel Government who returned to Vietnam for this year’s Xuan Que Huong (Homeland Spring) Programme for overseas Vietnamese.

At the reception, President Phuc highly appreciated Rosler making significant contributions to the relations between Vietnam and Germany as well as between Vietnam and Switzerland. He affirmed Vietnam wishes to strengthen its strategic partnership with Germany, especially in the fields of information technology, infrastructure, renewable energy, digital transformation and green economy.

The President suggested Dr. Rosler continued to support the development of the Vietnam - Germany relations, especially after Germany has just formed a new Government.

He also suggested that Dr. Rosler, in his capacity as Honorary Consul of Vietnam to Switzerland, actively promote the image and economic potential of Vietnam, and at the same time encourage businesses equipped with modern and green technology to invest in Vietnam.

President Phuc expected Dr. Rosler and Swiss businesses would help support and promote the early signing of a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association as agreed by the Presidents of Vietnam and Switzerland last December.
