Vietnam consistently attaches importance to, and wishes to continue strengthening the traditional friendship with Mongolia across all fields in line with the two sides’ capacities and needs, meeting the interests and aspirations of their peoples and contributing to peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world.

The statement was made by State President Luong Cuong during his reception in Hanoi on March 4 for Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Mongolia Ganzorig Damdin, who is on a visit to the country.

The Vietnamese leader expressed his satisfaction at the steady consolidation and positive development of the longstanding bilateral friendship in recent years, noting significant and substantive achievements in politics, economy, trade, education and people-to-people exchanges. In particular, the two countries upgraded ties to a comprehensive partnership in September 2024.

He affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always remember and treasure Mongolia’s valuable support and assistance during the country’s struggle for national independence in the past, as well as in the present-day process of national construction and development.

President Cuong also welcomed Mongolia’s consistent regard for developing relations with Vietnam, describing the country as a “third neighbour” and one of its leading partners in Southeast Asia.

For his part, Damdin stated that bilateral cooperation has continued to be strengthened and deepened in a more substantive manner, including expanding ties between the two supreme courts. He commended Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements in recent years under the leadership of the Party, observing that the country has become increasingly dynamic, with its international standing and prestige steadily enhanced.

Briefing his host on the outcome of talks with his Vietnamese counterpart, Damdin said the two sides had engaged in in-depth discussions on the development of their respective judicial systems, shared experiences and agreed to enhance mutual learning. He expressed confidence that the comprehensive partnership would continue to flourish, with judicial cooperation emerging as one of its key pillars.

Acknowledging the efforts of the two supreme courts in promoting judicial ties, President Cuong noted that, on the basis of the memorandum of understanding on judicial cooperation signed in June last year, the courts have stepped up delegation exchanges, personnel training, the sharing of adjudication experience, mutual legal assistance and support for the development of modern judicial institutions. He voiced his support for their practical and effective joint work, contributing to the broader development of bilateral relations.
