At the Archdiocese of Hanoi, President Phuc conveyed Christmas greetings and best wishes from Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, and other Party and State leaders to Joseph Vu Van Thien, archbishop of the Hanoi Archdiocese, and priests and Catholics of Hanoi.

He said with the COVID-19 pandemic brought under control, Vietnam has successfully implemented socio-economic development and international integration tasks. He partly attributed the success to great contributions by people from all social strata, including the Vietnam Catholic Church, and the Hanoi Archdiocese in particular.

He highly appreciated the Catholic community accompanying grassroots-level administrations in ensuring social security and carrying out humanitarian campaigns, demonstrating responsibility for society and the community.

The Party and State respect and guarantee the people’s right to freedom of religion and belief, and create conditions for the people to practice their religion and belief to contribute to strengthening the great unity bloc of the whole nation, and engaging in national development and construction, said the President.

He expected Archbishop Joseph Vu Van Thien would continue to encourage local Catholics to unite and promote the good cultural and moral values of the Catholic community and the nation, while making more practical contributions to national construction and development.

Archbishop Joseph Vu Van Thien thanked the Party and State for acknowledging Catholics’ contributions to national development, and asked them to continue to create favourable conditions for the Catholic community’ activities in the coming time.

The same day, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited and presented gifts to Vietnam Committee for Catholic Solidarity on the occasion of Christmas 2022.
