State management of religions under review

The State management of religion has helped ensure political security and served Vietnam’s economic development, according to a review organized by the Ministry of Interior and the Government Committee for Religious Affairs in Hanoi on December 27.

In his remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh called for greater efforts to carry out the Party guidelines and State policies, and publicize and enforce the Law on Religions and Beliefs.

"Solidarity is very important and the religions’ positive sides should be acknowledged without prejudice. Wherever mass organizations do a good job in encouraging religious activities in accordance with laws, there is stability," he said.

The participants were also briefed on the State's activities, which they said should continue to create optimal conditions for socio-economic development in areas inhabited by religious followers, train religious dignitaries, advocate religion-related external policy, and disseminate information on the religious and human rights situation in Vietnam.
