According to the scheme submitted to the Government by the Ministry of Transport, the North – South Expressway will have a total length of 1,300 km and will be built from now to 2020 with total investment of VND229.8 trillion.

Of the sum, about 40 per cent will be funded by the State Budget (VND93.5 trillion) and the remainder will be mobilized from other sources. Under the design, vehicles can move at a speed of 100 – 120 kilometers per hour but the speed will be limited to 60 – 80 kilometers per hour in some road sections with difficult terrains.

The highway is divided into 20 subprojects, each of which will be implemented separately.
