Smiles in Muong Nhe

PSNews - Coming back from a rememorable business trip in Muong Nhe district, Dien Bien province, I still recall the happy smiles of Ms. Lo Thi Quyet, Mr. Giang Seo Toa and Mr. Vua Song Dia, the ethnic people who have just received new houses under the Ministry of Public Security-sponsored housing project for poor people in Muong Nhe.
  • MPS-sponsored housing project for poor people in Muong Nhe completed
  • MPS wants to accelerate housing project for poor locals in three mountainous provinces
  • MPS supports housing project for poor locals in Son La province
  • Ministry of Public Security continues funding housing project for poor people in Muong Te

I came to Muong Nhe on the last days of September 2020. Different from what I had imagined, Muong Nhe appeared traditional but quite bustling. During this business trip, our team visited a number of households who had just received a new house under the project on building houses for poor families in Muong Nhe 2 village.

Major Tong Van Chinh, Deputy Head of the Muong Nhe District Police Station, our friendly tour guide, said: " Muong Nhe 2 village was established under the project on ensuring national defense and security in Muong Nhe (Project 79). It has 18 households with 130 residents, most of whom are of the H'Mong ethnic minority.

Earlier, policemen of the Muong Nhe District Police Post came to each poor local family and helped them settle down their lives. Having realized that many houses had been seriously degraded, they had instructed people to apply for housing support from the Ministry of Public Security-backed housing project for the poor in Muong Nhe district".

Senior Lieutenant Hang A Tu, a soldier of the Muong Nhe Commune Police Post also shared that people in Muong Nhe 2 village are quite affectionate. In particular, they actively participate in local common affairs.

Seeing us from afar, Mr. Giang Seo Toa invited us to his house. He happily said, his new house is very solid with yellow walls and red tile roof. He moved to live here from Bac Ha, Lao Cai but he received much support from the local authorities.

"I’m lucky as I received supports from the Party, the Government, and Ministry of Public Security so my family has settled down our life. Therefore, I have to be more responsible for the community. I understand that I must not believe in heresy. I don't believe in the so-called ethnic H’Mong Democratic State. I also told my children and relatives to be incited by bad people to do wrong things”, said Giang Seo Toa. Reportedly, no households in the village have so far followed heresy.

After that, we moved to New Muong Nhe village. This village was established in 2015 and has 140 households with more than 540 people. Although it is not far from the district center, the villagers still face difficulties.

We visited Ms. Lo Thi Quyet's house (37 years old, Thai ethnicity). Her 36-sqm house of Ms. Quyet was built in April 2020. Ms. Lo Thi Quyet said: "My old house was made of bamboo, and the roof was only covered with leaves. When it rained, the house was waterlogged. My kids were very scared at that time. Luckily, I received a great support from the Ministry of Public Security for the construction of the new house, so we now live in a new and cozy home, our life has been greatly improved. We now focus only on earning our living while our children go to school everyday.

Our next destination was Chung Chai commune. Located in the Muong Nhe natural reserve zone, lives of the people here are very difficult, even though they receive many support policies. The main reason is that the locals are undereducated and they keep living with backward practices and customs. It is also the reason why bad guys used to induce local people in Chung Chai commune to do bad things.

Therefore, over the past time, the authorities of Dien Bien province and Muong Nhe district have implemented many practical solutions to support their religious activities in accordance with the laws, helping them stabilize their lives, raise their legal awareness and strengthen the great national unity bloc.

Mr. Vua Song Dia (70 years old, H’Mong) said that a concrete house was his past dream. Now the dream has come true. The old man solemnly hangs a picture of Uncle Ho in the middle of the house. "I am grateful to the Party, the Government and the Ministry of Public Security. We have received a lot of assistance to stabilize our life", shared Mr. Vua Song Dia.
