Sen village festival in Nghe An to open in May

Recently, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that, on the occasion of the 132nd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, the Sen (Lotus) village festival 2022 will be held in Nghe An province from May 17-19, with diverse cultural activities.

The festival will be held from May 17 - 19 in Nghe An province’s Vinh city and Nam Dan district to celebrate President Ho Chi Minh's birthday. 

Within the framework of the program, the festival will be held in Vinh city and Nam Dan district with a series of activities such as offering wreath flowers at Uncle Ho's Monument in Ho Chi Minh Square in Vinh city; organizing a parade to Uncle Ho's hometown, offering incense at Kim Lien relic site and Chung Son Temple in Kim Lien commune of Nam Dan district as well as hosting a procession of Uncle Ho’s photo.

There will also be performances of other cultural, artistic and entertainment activities including Lotus Village Singing Festival; photo exhibition; Vi, Giam folk song and art performance; volleyball and traditional martial arts competitions of Nghe An province; lotus traditional long dress performance; display and introduction of culinary culture and typical products of Nghe An province; organizing an online photo contest "Hello Nam Dan"; camping, movie screenings and folk games.

The festival was first organized in 1981. This is one of the activities to show the gratitude and respect of the Party Committee and people of Nghe An province, as well as the people across the country, to President Ho Chi Minh, aiming  to popularise and educate people about President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, thus fostering the "Study and follow President Ho’s ideology, morality and lifestyle" movement.

After 2 years of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sen village festival 2022 is expected to attract a large number of visitors and the participation of art troupes from provinces and cities nationwide.
