Russian Film Week opens in Hanoi

PSNews - According to the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Vietnam, Russian culture-lovers in Hanoi will have a chance to enjoy the country’s well-known films with free entrance from August 10 to 31 during the Russian Film Week 2017.

The Russian Film Week 2017 is kicked off in Hanoi on Thursday August 10 with the aim of introducing the best of the contemporary Russian cinematography to Vietnamese audiences.

The film week is part of activities to celebrate the Russian Cinema Day (August 27).

“Russian cinematography has had a special place in Vietnamese hearts for more than half of a century. The annual Russian Film Week is a must-see for Russian cinematography lovers”, said a Vietnamese woman during the opening ceremony of the Russian Film Week 2017 on August 10.

The films to be screened include 4 contemporary films:

Attraction (Russian: Притяжение, 19:00, August 10) is a Russian science-fiction drama film directed by Fyodor Bondarchuk. The plot tells about an alien spaceship that crash-lands in Moscow district Chertanovo. The Russian government immediately introduced martial law, as the locals grow increasingly angry at the unwelcome guest.

Poddubny (Russian: Поддубный, 19:00, August 17) is a biographical dramatic feature film by Russian director Gleb Orlov, which tells the story of the legendary Russian wrestler Ivan Maksimovich Poddubny.

The Age of Pioneers (Russian: Время первых, 19:00, August 24), also known as Spacewalk, is a Russian historical drama film about cosmonaut Alexey Leonov, the first human to perform a spacewalk. Leonov himself served as a consultant for the film. The Age of Pioneers was directed by Dmitriy Kiselev and co-produced by Timur Bekmambetov and Yevgeny Mironov, the latter also starred in the leading role.

"A gift with a character" (Russian: Подарок с характером, 19:00, August 31): comedy film by Russian director Karen Oganesyan, narrating about the adventures of the boy named Artyom from a wealthy family and the loser Misha, who was forced to work as an animator on children's holidays.

All films will be screened each Thursday at 19:00 with Vietnamese subtitles at the Russian Center for Science and Culture.
