Quang Nam province’s girl crowned Miss Vietnam 2018

Tran Tieu Vy, a 18-year-old girl from central Quang Nam province, overcame 42 other finalists to take the crown of Miss Vietnam 2018 in the grand finale of the pageant in Ho Chi Minh City on September 16 night. 

Bui Phuong Nga, who was born in the central province of Ha Tinh, and Nguyen Thi Thuy An from the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang were the first and second runners-up, respectively.

Vy walked away with 500 million VND (24,000 USD) in cash and gifts worth several hundreds of millions of VND, while Nga and An took home 200 million VND (9,500 USD) each.

Vy is well-suited to succeed in competition at international pageants. The girl was listed in the top three of the Miss Sea session at the contest.

Following this event, Vy will represent the country in the upcoming global competition Miss World 2018, which is scheduled to take place in December in China.

Le Thanh Tu from Hanoi capital city won Miss Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress). Nguyen Thi Hong Tuyet of An Giang won Miss Charming Face. Tuyet was also named in the top three of the Miss Fashion session.

Ha Luong Bao Hang from Dak Lak won Miss Tourism. Huynh Pham Thuy Tien of Ho Chi Minh City won Miss Sports and Nguyen Hoang Bao Chau won Miss Beach.

Miss Vietnam began in 1988 and has been organised every two years. The contest has encouraged many young women to demonstrate their talent in careers, charity and social activities.
