Public Security Forces asked to play core role in safeguarding national security and economic security

The Party Central Committee's Secretariat on July 9 held a national conference to roll out the Politburo's Resolution No. 51-NQ/TW dated September 5, 2019 on national security strategy and to review three years of implementing the Politburo's Directive No. 12-CT/TW (Directive No.12) dated January 5, 2017 on strengthening the Party's leadership over economic security in developing the socialist-oriented market economy and promoting international economic integration.

The conference was co-chaired by Mr. Tran Quoc Vuong, Standing Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat; General To Lam, Minister of Public Security; General Ngo Xuan Lich, Minister of National Defense; Mr. Phan Dinh Trac, Head of the Central Commission for Internal Affairs.

Speaking at the event, Minister To Lam affirmed that economic security is considered a foundation and driving force for socio-economic development. In order to strengthen the protection of economic security, the Politburo on January 5, 2017, issued Directive No. 12 on “Strengthening the Party's leadership over economic security in developing the socialist-oriented market economy and promoting international economic integration”.

At the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, briefed the delegates on basic contents of Resolution No. 51-NQ/TW and delivered a report on the implementation of Directive No. 12 over the past three years.

Also at the conference, representatives from various ministries, agencies and local authorities discussed the advantages, difficulties and obstacles in implementing Directive No. 12 in the past time as well as proposed practical solutions for each ministry, sector and locality to effectively implement the National Security Strategy and ensure economic security in the time to come.

To conclude the conference, Mr. Tran Quoc Vuong asked the relevant ministries, sectors, and agencies at all levels to promote coordination and mobilize comprehensive strength of the Party, State and people to firmly protect national security, especially economic security. 

Particularly, the Public Security Forces were asked to improve their operational efficiency to meet their task requirements in the new situation and build the Public Security Forces as a revolutionary, regular, elite and  gradually modernized force to steadily safeguard national security and economic security.
