Leaders of Austrian relevant agencies welcome President Vo Van Thuong, his wife and delegation at the airport.

This is the first activity during the Vietnamese State leader’s official visit to Austria.

At the meeting, the Ambassadors said that Europe highly appreciates Vietnam's increasing role, position and prestige in the international arena, and therefore, the EU's recent new policies have all paid special attention to promoting cooperative relations with Vietnam.

Cooperation between Vietnam and the EU has huge potential in all aspects. Each year the EU imports goods valued at about 3.2 trillion EUR, however, Vietnam's export value to the bloc only reaches 83 billion EUR.

Despite having great investment abroad, the level of the EU's investment in Vietnam is still limited, while the bloc has strengths in fields that Vietnam has needs such as green economy, circular economy, electronic chips, and renewable energy.

The EU is a vast and fastidious market for imported goods, the Ambassadors said, while suggesting Vietnamese enterprises should continue to innovate and meet export standards to this potential market.

With about 1 million Vietnamese expatriates in the EU region, the Vietnamese diplomats highlighted Vietnamese associations' effective operations in the host nations. In particular, the All-Europe Vietnam Business Association plays an important role in augmenting economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Europe.

The Ambassadors also proposed ministries and sectors more closely manage labor promotion activities in the country as the labor market in Europe also has many specific criteria for the quality of labor resources that labor export enterprises need to comply with.

In his speech, President Thuong praised the efforts made by the Ambassadors, officials and staff of Vietnamese representative agencies in Europe to have comprehensively and effectively implemented the foreign policy with many positive results, and successfully fulfilled the tasks assigned by the Vietnamese Party and State.

These results have contributed to enhancing Vietnam's position and image in the international arena, cultivating and propelling relations between Vietnam, the EU and European nations forward, he went on to say.

The President also asked Vietnamese representative agencies pay due attention to dealing with more extensively and proactively overseas Vietnamese affairs in the latest situation in Europe.
