At a meeting on the fringes of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in central Da Nang city on November 10, the two leaders showed their delight at the growing Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Partnership, especially after President Quang’s visit to Singapore in August 2016 and PM Lee’s trip to Vietnam in March 2017.

They also agreed to work together in preparing celebrations for the 45th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties.

PM Lee urged Vietnam to support his nation as the ASEAN Chair next year and offer more favourable conditions for Singaporean enterprises and investors to run investment in Vietnam.

The two leaders also applauded the strong development of people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in culture and education between the two nations.

They also compared notes on regional and global issues of shared concern and consented to maintain ASEAN’s central role in dealing with strategic issues relating to security and interests of each nation and the region as well.
