The State leader said the successful hosting the APEC events are prominent achievements of Vietnam’s foreign policy this year, thereby enhancing APEC’s role as the region’s leading economic cooperation mechanism.

This represented a landmark in Vietnam’s international integration and demonstrated the country’s strategic vision for the Asia-Pacific region, he added.

President Quang said activities of APEC Year 2017 were held professionally, thoroughly, economically, and effectively with optimal social resources mobilized and ensured security and safety.

The President also informed voters on the results of the 4th session of the 14th National Assembly, saying that the session was held amid positive changes taking place in Vietnam and the NA continued to persist with substantial reform and enhance the quality of its activities.

Regarding anti-corruption activities, President Quang emphasized that drastic actions are needed and no one is exception in the fight. He said one of the priorities in the field is to recover the assets appropriated by corrupted officials.

The standing board of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption Work has approved a plan on completing the investigation and trial of 23 corruption-related cases of great public concern within 2017 and the first quarter of next year.

At the meeting, Quang also called for combined efforts in coping with climate change, protecting the environment and effectively and properly realizing policies and laws pertaining to child protection.
