Police investigating traffic accident that kills 8 in Binh Thuan

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security’s leaders urged the Traffic Police Department to collaborate with the Binh Thuan Provincial Police Department to deal with the serious traffic accident that killed 8 in the locality on July 21.

The accident happened on the National Highway 1A section in Tan Duc commune of Ham Tan district at around 1am on July 21, when a 16-seat bus driven by 48-year-old Le Thanh Truc, numbered 86B-010.87, crashed into a truck, numbered 79N-0315 and driven by 29-year-old Phan Thanh Tung.

Six people on the bus were killed at the scene. One died on the way to local hospital while the 8th victims succumbed to his injuries at the hospital’s emergency room. Seven others suffered heavy injuries.

Initial investigation results show that the coach ran in the wrong lane.

Shortly after the incident, the Ministry of Public Security’s leaders ordered the Traffic Police Department to collaborate with the Binh Thuan Provincial Police Department to deploy forces to the scene to rescue the victims and investigate the case.

The Ministry of Public Security’s leaders also asked the Binh Thuan Police to ensure traffic order and safety at the incident’s site while taking on investigation into the accident in accordance with the law.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, head of the National Traffic Safety Committee, asked the Binh Thuan provincial administration to mobilise all resources to save the injured and investigate the cause of the accident.
