Due to an increasing demand of people amid the fast spreading of the new train of Coronavirus (nCoV), prices of medical masks have multiplied 4 - 5 times while prices of Tamiflu have almost doubled.

Knowing a sharp rise in prices of medical equipment and supplies in China, a lot of traders speculated medical masks and hand-wash solutions and illegally exported these medical goods to China, which caused negative impact on the domestic medical market.

The economic police force from February 1st to 4th in coordination with functional units detected and handled 26 cases. They found more than 422,000 medical masks and around 4,000 hand-wash bottles without invoices and origin-certificate papers illegally hoarded up by traders.

The Ministry of Public Security will continue to closely coordinate with functional units to deal with this situation and strictly punish manufactures and individuals producing, trading and speculating fake, poor-quality, unknown origin medical goods.

The ministry also calls on people to immediately report the nearest police office or contact the hotline of the police units in the localities when detecting such violations.

The Ministry of Public Security recommended that people should be calm and alert to the false and unverified information on the social networks. People should also choose to buy medical products from licensed shops.
