PM Phuc hosts banquet for foreign diplomats, friends on National Day

PSNews - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his spouse on August 31 hosted a banquet for ambassadors and heads of international organizations in Vietnam and their spouses, in Hanoi on August 31 on the occasion of the 72nd National Day (September 2).

The event also saw members of the Politburo, members of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee, leaders of the Government and National Assembly; representatives of ministries and central agencies and Hanoi authorities; ambassadors and heads of international organizations in Hanoi.

Addressing the event, on behalf of the Vietnamese Party, the State and people, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc warmly welcomed the international guests and friends to the event.

The Prime Minister recalled the country’s achievements over the past 72 years, and reiterated that Vietnam is always a trustworthy friend and partner of countries around the world.

Prime Minister Phuc noted that the world is facing a number of common challenges, including impacts of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the return of protectionism, energy security, terrorism, and climate change.

We are strongly committed to joining the international community’s effort to strive for a peaceful and prosperous world without war and poverty. Over the past 72 years, the resounding oath of national independence has always urged the Vietnamese people to unite to overcome difficulties and challenges, to struggle for independence, unification of the Motherland, and to achieve success in the Doi Moi process", Prime Minister Phuc stated.

According to Prime Minister Phuc, Vietnam is building a clean, active and tectonic government to serve the people. During the cause, Vietnam has attained a number of noticeable achievements, thanks to support of countries, international organizations and friends.

With its foreign policy of independence and self-reliance, Vietnam is now actively fostering international cooperation and integration and making special effort to build the ASEAN Community, he stated.  The Prime Minister also said that Vietnam is working hard to successfully host the APEC Year 2017 with the aim of promoting regional integration and connections.

On behalf of the Party, the State and the Vietnamese people, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc thanked the governments and people of foreign countries as well as international and regional organizations and international partners and friends for their effective supports over the past time, and hoped to receive further support from them.

He lauded Vietnam’s attainments in socio-economic development despite difficulties and challenges in economic and trade fields, as well as natural disasters. He said that Vietnam has succeeded in demonstrating itself as a responsible country in the international arena, which persistently pursues the police of peace, honors other countries’ sovereignty and wants to be in harmony with other countries.

The head of the international diplomatic corps in Hanoi also praised Vietnam’s efforts and preparation for hosting the APEC Year 2017, and wished big success to Vietnam.
