The visits were part of the Vietnamese Party leader’s official trip to Laos from November 24 to 26.

Meeting with former Politburo member, former Prime Minister and former President of the Lao Front for National Construction Sasavath Keobounphan and former Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong, Nen said the Vietnamese Party, State and people highly value the two senior officials’ role in Laos’ revolution as well as in the enhancement of the two countries’ solidarity.

He expressed his hope that the former leaders will continue contributing to the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, adding that the Party, State and people of Vietnam consider intensifying bilateral relations a strategic task of vital importance to each country’s security and development.

Vietnam will consistently exert every effort to bolster their traditional friendship, special unity and all-round cooperation in a result-oriented manner, and educate younger generation on this relationship, he added.

Visiting Thongvive Phomvihane, the wife of the late President Kaysone Phomvihane, Nen highlighted enormous devotions by the late President to the struggle for independence, freedom and happiness of Laos.

He said the late leader was a close friend of the Vietnamese people and he played a major role in founding and developing the countries’ amity, solidarity and cooperation which are a priceless asset of the two peoples.

The Communist Party of Vietnam always keeps in mind Kaysone Phomvihane’s sentiment and devotion and will work with the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party to study the values of his ideology on the Vietnamese-Lao relationship so as to impart the importance of these ties to officials, Party members and people in the two countries, Nen added.
