Party delegation examines counter-corruption in Tay Ninh

The southern province of Tay Ninh has brought to trial 278 economic and corruption cases with 485 defendants since the Politburo’s Instruction on strengthening Party leadership over the discovery and settlement of corruption cases was issued on December 7, 2015.

During a working session in Tay Ninh on September 20 with head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac, who is also permanent deputy head of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, permanent Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Minh Tan reported that all 14 local Party units and 638 Party cells at the grassroots level have fully grasped the instruction.

The provincial Party Committee has established groups to inspect 130 Party-level units, organisations and 23 Party members, focusing on sensitive areas such as transport infrastructure, administrative reform, State budget use and procurement.

Through inspections, 12 Party members have been disciplined with two expelled and nearly VND900 million (US$40,900) requested for reclaim.

Investigation agencies discovered more than VND86 billion (US$3.9 million) worth of ill-gotten gains, imposed sanction against 71 collectives and 71 individuals over administrative violations, and transferred five cases to the police.

Speaking at the event, Trac asked inspected units to point out any arising flaws and put forward proposals so that the steering committee’s working delegation could fulfill its tasks.

As scheduled, the working delegation will inspect 10 units of the provincial’s internal affairs sector, the provincial departments of Industry and Trade, Natural Resources and Environment; and the standing boards of the Party Committees of Tan Chau and Ben Cau districts between now and October 5.
