Speaking to the city's journalists, Mr. Vo Van Thuong affirmed that the press agencies and journalists have made great contributions to the cause of national construction and development. The press agencies also well carried out the mass dissemination of the guidance of the Party, policies and laws of the State to the people, contributing to promoting the national solidarity bloc.

Mr. Vu Van Thuong highly appreciated the efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City's Journalists’ Association in uniting journalists,  improving political stance, professional ethics and skills for the journalist members, and in protecting its members' interests. He also stated that, the Vietnamese Press is a revolutionary and democratic press. The Party and the State always maximize favorable conditions for the press to develop and participate in all fields while listening to and appreciating the information from the press.

In order to promote the role of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, Mr. Vo Van Thuong urged the press to enhance self-training and anti-degradation within the force; continue to innovate methods to delivery formal information to readers and orient the readers to the truth and good deeds while actively struggling against false information with negative impacts on society.

Mr. Vo Van Thuong also noted that, in the need of nationalwide comprehensive reforms in the fields of economy, society, defense, security, foreign affairs, Party building and political system building and so on, the Party and the State need the responsible contribution of the press.

*Same day, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam visited and extended congratulations to those working in the press industry at a conference held by the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Education and Communication, the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) on the occasion of the 93th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21).

He expressed his empathy with the difficulties and challenges that press agencies and journalists are facing, including the huge demand of people for information in all aspects of social life, as well as the information race that is counted by seconds.

Deputy Prime Minister also pointed out that many press agencies have to implement their political missions and be self-reliant on finance in the context of fast-growing technology, where the revenues from advertising and value-added services are contracting due to the birth of other media forms, including social networks.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam highly appreciated the efforts of the press agencies and journalists throughout the country, and hoped that they would overcome all challenges in order to grow further and fulfill their tasks.
