Nearly 3,000 Vietnamese study at Russian schools under two governments' agreement

PSNews -  The information was given by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko during his visit to the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) in April.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko expressed his delight at the university’s experience and prestige in teaching the Russian language, long-term cooperation with many Russian universities, and organisation of many historical and cultural exchange events between the two countries.

The Deputy PM of Russia hoped that VNU would further strengthen cooperation with a number of Russian peers such as the Moscow Aviation Institute and Moscow Power Engineering Institute to form an association of Vietnam-Russia technical universities to carry out sci-tech cooperation and transfer activities.

At the meeting with lectures and students of the Russian language and culture faculty of VNU’s school of foreign languages and Russian students learning Vietnamese at the university, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko said collaboration in teaching Russian is very important and is the foundation for the development of the Russia-Vietnam relations.

In particular, each year, the Russian Government granted 1,000 scholarships for Vietnamese citizens to study in the country.

Currently, nearly 3,000 Vietnamese are studying at Russian schools under an agreement between the two governments, according to Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko.

* Earlier, at the 24th meeting of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-Governmental Committee on Economic, Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation in Hanoi on April 6, a tripartite cooperation pact serving AI development research was signed by representatives of VNU and Russia’s Far Eastern Federal University and Sberbank under the witness of Chernyshenko and Vietnamese Deputy PM Tran Hong Ha.
