National Assembly Standing Committee meets this week

The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee is scheduled to convene its 5th meeting in Hanoi on May 27, the NA Office announced.

The committee will review the preliminary results of the recent election of deputies to the 15th legislature and grassroots-level People’s Councils for ther 2021-2026 tenure.

It will give opinions on the 2019 State budget report and examine the Government’s report on thrift practice and waste prevention in 2020.

Nearly 68 million Vietnamese people cast their ballot on Election Day on May 23, with voter turnout reaching more than 98%. Several localities reported a coter turnout of more than 99%, including Hau Giang, Lao Cai, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Gia Lai, Quang Ninh, and Quang Nam.

The new legislature will have 500 deputies and they are scheduled to meet in July to elect key leaders of the State apparatus.
