National Assembly delegation visits Angkor Dairy Factory

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and delegation paid a working visit to Angkor Dairy Factory (ADF). ADF is considered the first milk plant in Cambodia established by a joint venture between Vinamilk and BPC.

Leaders of ADF reported to Ms. Ngan the formation of the plant with the support of the governments of Vietnam and Cambodia

ADF was inaugurated in May 2016. As of September, ADF reached a turnover of USD $10.2 million, achieving 68% target of USD $15 million by 2016. By 2024, the annual average growth rate is expected to reach 15%. 

Besides, ADF is facing some difficulties regarding import tax of raw ingredient. Since this is a new industry in Cambodia, most of ingredient are imported from European countries and Vietnam at high import tariffs from 15% - 35%.
Therefore, leader of ADF proposed to Ms. Ngan to conclude the bilateral trade agreement between Vietnam and Cambodia, focusing on reduce import tariffs in order to support for the development of this industry in Cambodia. 
At the meeting, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan recognized efforts ADF's leaders and staffs. "It's not only about contribution to the state budget but also new jobs for Cambodian". she said. 
Built on 30,000 m2 in the Phnom Penh Industrial Zone, at a cost of USD $23 million invested over one year, in the first production stage,  the ADF's capacity will be 19 million litres of milk, 64 million boxes of yoghurt, and 80 million boxes of condensed milk. In the next stage (from 2024 on), the factory will have a capacity of 38 million litres of milk and 192 million boxes of yoghurt per year for Cambodia and neighboring markets.
