NA Committee for National Defense and Security reviews law project on forces for security and order at the grassroots level

Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for National Defense and Security Lieutenant General Le Tan Toi chaired a meeting to review the project on a law of forces participating in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level, on April 11, 2023.

The meeting was participated in by of standing members of the National Assembly's (NA) Committee for National Defense and Security and members of the law drafting committee headed by Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung.

Presenting the report on the review of the project, Standing member of the Defense and Security Committee Senior Colonel Vu Huy Khanh, said that the NA National Defense and Security Committee highlighted the need for such a law.

The NA Committee for National Defense and Security affirmed that the bill is in line with the Party's direction on building, consolidating and maintaining forces participating in ensuring public order and security at the grassroots level, and serves as a legal basis to define duties and powers of the forces.

At the meeting, a majority of the delegates agreed that it is necessary to soon promulgate the law in order to strengthen the work of ensuring order and security at the grassroots-level, unify forces maintaining order and security at the grassroots-level into a well-organized force under a joint command, which can reduce budgets for the work of ensuring order and security at the grassroots level.

Delegates also argued that that law should be drafted as soon as possible to address current issues and limitations in maintaining order and security at the grassroots level.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung thanked the delegates for their responsible comments on the law project.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the NA Committee for Defense and Security Le Tan Toi emphasized that delegates basically agreed on the necessity, main content and domain of the law project, so it is expected to be submitted by the Government to the National Assembly for consideration in 2023.
