The meeting saw the presence of the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and representatives of relevant sectors.

At the meeting, Lieutenant General Pham Quoc Cuong, Commander of Mobile Police, Chief of the Compiling Group briefed the delegates on the bill, stating that the Ordinance on Mobile Police, which was approved in 2013 and took effect in 2014, is an important legal basis for the Mobile Police Force in implementing armed measures to promptly and effectively handle critical situations and suppress dangerous organized criminals as well as to protect important political events.

However, rapid changes of security situation in the country, the region and the world have required a law regulating the authority, organization, operational domain, functions and missions of the Mobile Police Force.

Deputy Minister of Public Security speaks at the event.

Coming in effect 7 years ago, the Ordinance on Mobile Police has become irrelevant with a number of shortcomings and limitations. There should be a law to realize the provisions of the Constitution, and institutionalize the Party's guidelines on strengthening the Party's leadership over the mobile police force as well as building a professional, elite and modern mobile police force.

At the meeting, the leaders of the NA’s Standing Committee for National Defense and Security and delegates reached a high consensus on the need for the Law on Mobile Police to replace the Ordinance on Mobile Police.

On behalf of the Drafting Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security Tran Quoc To thanked the Standing Board of the NA Committee for National Defense and Security and delegates for their opinions and ideas, especially the instructions of Vice Chairman of the NA Tran Quang Phuong.

The deputy minister affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security will seriously consider the opinions and ideas of the delegates, and then give full and thorough explanations to the Government and NA.
