NA chairman visits National Population Data Center

A delegation of the National Assembly (NA) led by Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on August 27 paid a working visit to the National Population Data Center run by the Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order under the Ministry of Public Security.

Speaking at the working session, Chairman Hue said that the Government is building an e-government in preparation for a digital government, digital economy, and digital society, while promoting administrative reforms to create favorable conditions for people and businesses in socio-economic development.

To that end, big databases should be connected together while the National Population Database serves as the core and foundation.

He also expressed his delight that the Ministry of Public Security has initiated several applications and software in support of the fight against the pandemic based on the National Population Database.

These applications and software help manage residents in pandemic-hit areas and COVID-19 vaccinations as well as carry out social welfare support packages in a quick and accurate manner, contributing to prevention and control of COVID-19.

The top legislator praised the whole Public Security Forces for their successful building and operation of the National Population Database Network over the past time, affirming that it is one of the projects needed to build the revolutionary, professional, elite, and modernized People's Public Security Forces starting from 2030 in line with the 13th National Party Congress's Resolution.

The NA Chairman asked the Ministry of Public Security to continue working with relevant ministries and sectors to complete the National Population Database and the system for making, granting, and managing chip-based citizen identity cards while daily updating the database  with information supplied by the grassroots level units and ensuring security and safety for the systems.

Chairman Hue also requested NA agencies to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to get accurate and updated population information in order to advise the NA on important issues of the country and law-making work to suit the reality.

On behalf of the Ministry of Public Security, Minister To Lam appreciated the sound leadership and care of the NA Chairman for the national population database project. The Minister promised to direct under-ministerial agencies and the National Population Data Center to note his instructions.

On this occasion, Minister To Lam presented the Medal “For the cause of building the National Population Database” to Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and 22 people with outstanding achievements.
