National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man and a NA working group on July 1 presented 20 gifts to revolution contributors in the southern province of Hau Giang and witnessed the symbolic handover of 100 charity houses to the province on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947-2024).

The beneficiaries include women holding the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother, social policy beneficiary households and revolution contributors.

Meeting with the beneficiaries, Man said that the Party, the State and people of Vietnam are always grateful to those who laid down their lives or made significant contributions to the revolution. Taking care of war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution is the responsibility of all-level administrations, all sectors and all people today and in the future.

The Party, the State and the Government have issued policies and laws designating on support and preferential treatment for those people, Man said, noting that most recently, on June 25, 2024, President To Lam signed a decision on giving gifts worth totally 420 billion VND (16.5 million USD) to more than 1.3 million revolution contributors.

Currently, there are more than 9.2 million revolution contributors nationwide including nearly 1.2 million martyrs, nearly 500,000 relatives of martyrs; over 117,000 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and nearly 600,000 war invalids.

The NA Chairman said that although Hau Giang is the most disadvantaged province in the Mekong Delta, the provincial Party Committee, government and people have made efforts and mobilised resources to take care of revolution contributors and their relatives.

Up to now, the province has almost ensured housing for war invalids. Last year, the province spent more than 123 billion VND to support revolution contributors and their relatives, mobilised funding from various sources to build and repair 1,471 houses for war invalids and poor households.
