NA adopts resolution on North-South Expressway section investment

With 83.1 percent of approval, the National Assembly approved a resolution on investment policy for the construction of some road sections in the eastern route of the North-South Expressway in 2017-2020 at the ongoing fourth session of the 14th legislature in Hanoi on November 22.

The segments include Cao Bo (Nam Dinh) – Bai Vot (Ha Tinh), Cam Lo (Quang Tri) – La Son (Thua Thien-Hue), and Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) – Dau Giay (Dong Nai) – My Thuan Bridge 2 (Tien Giang and Vinh Long).

The project’s preliminary VND118.7-trillion (US$5.22 billion) investment will cover about 654km. Of the total investment, VND55 trillion will be sourced from the State budget and the remaining from investors.

The NA entrusted the Government to implement the project, which is due to be completed in 2021, according to the country’s law.

It must ensure publicity, transparency, efficiency, and equal competition among domestic and foreign economic sectors, and prevent corruption, wastefulness and negative phenomena in the process of implementation and management.

The same day, legislators talked about the draft Law on State secret protection.
