MPS meets with NA Chairwoman and leaders of Standing Committee and agencies

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting with the Standing Committee of the National Assembly (NA), representatives of NA agencies, and NA deputies working in the People's Public Security Forces.

General To Lam, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security chaired the meeting. The event saw the presence of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, members of the NA Standing Committee, and leaders of various NA agencies.

At the meeting, Public Security Deputy Minister Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuongbriefed the delegates on results of the Public Security Forces’ performances of their functions of advising the NA and ensuring security and safety for NA activities.

Particularly, since the beginning of the NA’s 2016-2021 term, the MPS has drafted and presented various law bills at NA sittings and 11 of them were enacted into laws, and one resolution was adopted. 

The ministry also drafted 32 governmental reports and 158 ministerial reports on issues related to security, social order, and legislation. Leaders of the MPS also actively participated in NA hearings and seriously responded to voters' recommendations.

Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong emphasized that in the NA’s next term, the MPS will comprehensively implement their assigned tasks related to the NA. Particularly, the MPS will direct the Public Security Forces nationwide to work out plans to safeguard the elections of the 16th NA and 2021-2026-term People's Councils at all levels under the direction of the National Election Commission.

Speaking at the meeting, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan spoke highly of the significant contribution of the Public Security Forces to the overall success of the 14th-term NA.

She affirmed that the Public Security Forceshave proactively helped the NA perform its supreme supervisionand decide on important issues of the country. The NA Chairwoman also praised the contribution and the high sense of responsibility of NA deputies who are public security officers.

The NA chairwoman expressed her hope that the MPS will successfully fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, State, and people, and uphold the reputation of the Public Security Forces at the NA as an active and responsible force wholeheartedly serving the people.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam thanked the NA the Standing Committee and other NA agencies for their assistance to the Public Security Forces and the MPS.

He wished to receive further support from the NA and its committees so that the Public Security Forces will successfully complete their assigned tasks, contributing to building and firmly protecting the country.

On this occasion, Minister To Lam awarded the “National Security Protection” Medal to the Chairwoman Ngan, other members of the NA Standing Committee, and leaders of some NA agencies in recognition of the their contributions to the course of ensuring national security and social order.
