The National Assembly's Standing Committee has scheduled to start questions and answers (Q&A) today (on August 13) as part of its ongoing 26th working session. The Q&A will be broadcast live on national television and radio.

Specifically, on the morning of August 13, Chairwoman of the  National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan will address the opening ceremony of the Q&A. Legislators will then have 3 hours to question the Minister, Chairman of Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs Do Van Chien.

Mr. Do Van Chien will answer questions relating to the implementation of policies for ethnic groups, especially those relating to social welfares, infrastructure development, vocational training and job creation as well as hunger elimination and poverty reduction for ethnic minorities.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh; Ministers of Planning and Investment; Finance; Agriculture and Rural Development; Transportation; Education and training; Medical; Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; Culture, Sports and Tourism will also address issues related to their responsibilities.

Minister of Public Security To Lam is expected to explain to deputies about social security and order situation, crime prevention and control, crimes relating to economic activities, power abuse and the development of the national resident database.

AT this session, the NA Standing Committee discussed amendments to the Law on Amnesty yesterday morning. NA Judicial Committee Chairwoman Le Thi Nga said the Committee agreed with the Government’s proposal to continue granting amnesty on the occasion of important national events, anniversaries and in special cases.

On the afternoon of August 13, under the chair of Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly Do Ba Ty, Minister of Public Security To Lam is exprected to answer questions from deputies.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh; the Chief Judge of the Supreme People's Court, the Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy, the Chief of the Governmental Inspectorate, the State Auditor General, the Governor of the State Bank and the Minister of Information and Communications may clarify the questions which are asked the Minister of Public Security but are also related to their responsibilities.

The Q&A session will be concluded at 16.35 pm with a keynote speech of Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
