General To Lam, Vietnamese Minister of Public Security on February 19 received Mr. Saleh Adibi and Mr. Sampath Prasanna Walpita Gamage, who were newly appointed as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of Iran and Sri Lanka to Vietnam.

General To Lam on February 19 hosted a reception for Mr. Saleh Adibi, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Vietnam.

At the reception, Minster To Lam welcomed the newly-accredited Iranian ambassador and hoped the ambassador will contribute to further strengthening all-around ties between the two countries, especially the cooperation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Iranian partners.

The host suggested the two sides to enhance exchange of working experience and sharing of criminal information, and coordinate in combating transnational crimes,  drug-related crimes, hi-tech crimes, and human trafficking.

The two sides should also expand cooperation in improving professional expertise and foreign language skills for police officers of both countries while increasing exchange of high-level delegations and supporting each other at multilateral forums.

For his part, Ambassador Saleh Adibi thanked Minister Lam for the warm welcome and vowed to further promote the relations between Iran and Vietnam, and between the Iranian law enforcement agencies and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in the coming time.

* On the same day, General To Lam received Mr. Sampath Prasanna Walpita Gamage, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Vietnam.

Minister To Lam congratulated Mr. Gamage on his new term of office in Vietnam and expressed his delight at the positive development of the relations between Vietnam and Sri Lanka and the cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Sri Lanka’s law enforcement agencies over the past time.

Regarding cooperation in the coming time, Minister Lam suggested the two sides strengthen the exchange of criminal information, coordinate in crime prevention and fight, and maintain exchange of delegations. The two sides should also effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding between the Vietnamese People’s Police Academy and the Sri Lanka Police Academy.

The guest highly appreciated the achievements of the Vietnamese people and Public Security Forces over the past years.

For his part, Mr. Gamage vowed to make efforts to promote the traditional friendship between Sri Lanka and Vietnam for benefits of the two peoples.
