During the event, hosted by the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association, the participants recalled the history of the Lao people’s struggle for national independence and the foundation and development of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party as well as Vietnam-Laos special traditional ties.

Bui Xuan Hoa, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen province, conveyed the best wishes to the Lao people.
Hoa held that amidst the international integration and globalisation trend, people-to-people exchanges should be increased through activities of friendship associations, liaison committee of former volunteer soldiers as well as via training, research and technology transfer between the two countries.
Thai Nguyen twinned with Luang Phrabang province of Laos for a long time. Since the 1960s, the province has received Laos students to study in local universities and high schools, many of whom are now holding important positions in the Laos’ Party and Government.
Currently, Thai Nguyen is hosting more than 1,600 Lao students who have received support from provincial departments and agencies.
On this occasion, the Lao delegation incensed in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House and visited a number of education and training facilities which have been accommodating Lao students.
